ROYAL ROOM of RATOE MAS

The museum has opened new display room: ROYAL ROOM RATOE MAS.
The room is dedicate to Gusti Kanjeng Ratu Mas, queen of Sunan Paku Buwana X (Kasunanan Surakarta
Hadiningrat, 1893-1939). The room was displayed all about Ratu Mas. You can
know everything about princess life,
like how struggle-journey-fashion style.
We will give you some view of life at the past in the
Mataram
Kingdom royal family.
The queen was the daughter of Sultan Hamengku Buwana VII
(Kasultanan Yogyakarta Hadiningrat, 1877-1921), she was married with Sunan PB
X
from
Surakarta,
in the 1915. This marriage became political way to unity the two
kingdom of
Mataram Dinasty that divided in the
1755. But, it’s not easy for young princess to live in the kingdom who married
with the king that have so many (20’s) garwa
ampil (concubines) at that time. She was a queen, a higher status, although
the king had the other queen that not yet gave a child.
So, in the 1915’s the young princess from Yogyakarta palace
married with the greatest king from Surakarta Hadiningrat. She became the most
famous and lovely wife. We can see from all the photographs and paintings in
the room.
The king adore her, although she never gave son, only a daughter. Sunan PB X never choose crown
prince from all his sons from 39 garwa
ampil. He had 63 childrens from 39 garwa ampil and queens.
